Methodology

What we cover

MetroFares is an independent reference for Indian metro fares, stations and routes. We cover 11 operational metro systems, 1,247 stations across 11 cities, of which 1,215 stations carry coordinates and appear on the route maps.

Station data

Station names, the lines they sit on and their locations are compiled from publicly available sources. Some stations have precise coordinates and some do not; where coordinates are missing, the station still appears in the list but not on the map, and the fare calculator will tell you the estimate is unavailable for that pair.

Fares are indicative

Every fare here is indicative. Indian metros are priced by distance: the operator divides the network into slabs and your ticket is the price of the slab your trip falls into. We publish each operator's own distance slabs, exactly as they list them, on the relevant city page.

How the calculator estimates

The fare calculator measures the straight-line distance between the two stations you pick and maps it onto the operator's published slabs. The train travels a longer along-track route, so the official fare can be one slab higher than our estimate. Smart-card fares, off-peak discounts and special lines such as airport expresses are not modelled here. Treat the number as a guide.

Not affiliated

MetroFares is not affiliated with any metro operator. The operator's own app or website is always the source of truth for the exact fare, timings, service status and any discount. We link the official site on every city page.
